The king as artist

The Prussian Palaces and Gardens Berlin-Brandenburg Foundation (SPSG) manages more than 300 historical buildings and gardens. The foundation's cultural assets also include numerous art objects and an extensive collection of historical photographs, drawings and paintings. Since 2007, essential parts of the image archive have been permanently maintained and managed in easydb .

Under the slogan “ The King as Artist ”, 1,500 original drawings by the hand of the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm IV . indexed in the inventory catalog and made available online for the public. The complete collection of 7,000 drawings is to be published by 2014. The collection is particularly significant because the king, as a close companion of Schinkel and Stüler, is considered one of the most important inspirations for the architecture of his time. We are very pleased that we can combine our technical expertise with our passion for art and cultural history in this project.
