Sharing Heritage – European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018

Following a proposal from the European Commission, 2018 will be the European Year of Cultural Heritage, as announced by Tibor Navracsics, EU Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, at the European Cultural Forum in Brussels on April 19, 2016.

Under the motto “Sharing Heritage”, European cultural assets and cultural backgrounds are to be brought closer to the public. A focus was placed on the archaeological and architectural heritage. However, other aspects of the material and intangible cultural heritage should also be brought into focus.

The preparations for activities at national level are currently being discussed. The last year of action dedicated to European monument protection took place in 1975. Further Info about the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 can be found German National Committee for Monument Protection
