Graz Conference: Digital Library – Networked Worlds, February 25th – 26th, 2016

Digital cultural heritage as a public good

In recent years, the number of digital collections in cultural, scientific and educational institutions has increased very rapidly. New technologies enable the cost-effective establishment of digital libraries that make research results accessible to a broad international audience in virtual space. Questions regarding the conservation, maintenance and professional development of the digital collections remain. The digital communication channels that have been opened also offer new opportunities for networking, collaboration and creative reuse.

Is this digital cultural heritage now also part of our public good, and in an increasingly differentiated, complex world, isn't it best secured in the long term if it is published under open access? These questions and options will be discussed as part of the sixth “ Digital Library ”.

The Digital Library conference will take place from February 25th to 26th, 2016 in Graz. The program for the conference can be found here .

Programmfabrik takes part in the conference and presents kuniweb and the possibilities for inventorying collections in a network as dam of the poster session . The recording database was implemented with easydb . The joint project is coordinated technically and in terms of content by the joint headquarters of the GBV (VZG) and the State and University Library (SUB) in Göttingen. We are happy to answer any content-related or technical questions and look forward to stimulating discussions and inspiring contacts.
