Berlin Partner for Business and Technology GmbH offers Berlin Commercial , investors, and scientific institutions comprehensive funding opportunities in the fields of business and technology. The public-private partnership is backed by the Berlin Senate and over 200 Commercial . One of its core tasks is also global marketing for the capital city of Berlin.

In 2011, the Commercial , with over 200 employees, faced the challenge of centrally storing images and media for marketing and making them accessible across departments. The goal was to reduce the server load by centralizing the image storage and ensure the usage rights for the images used in the Commercial . Following a public tender, easydbwas chosen. The training options and unlimited user base, as well as customization and expansion options to respond to future requirements, were also decisive factors. The Activity Log module for tracking logins and downloads, as well as LDAP for effortless authentication of internal users via single sign-on, were also integrated.

Today, over 250 users, both internally and externally, work with the image database. All employees can research the database and use material subject to the permissions, which can be adjusted in rightsmanagement . A specially configured format is available for download for use in presentations. High-resolution images for the press, publishers, and magazines can be made available to external partners from easydb . Power users from various departments are responsible for uploading images. The images are placed in a central pool, checked by the administrator for quality and accuracy, and then released for further use. Newly acquired images are also stored in a central repository. The quality and searchability of the image material are further optimized by adding metadata. Information on title, content, location, and copyright is mandatory; additional information is optional.

The transition from local server storage with distributed image collections to the professional web-based Digital Asset Management easydb has proven to be a successful and simplified approach for daily work. Communication channels have been shortened and the value chain has been mapped into a single system.
