Conference Graz: Digital Library – Connected Worlds, 25 – 26 February 2016

Digital cultural heritage as a public good

In recent years, the number of digital collections in cultural, scientific, and educational institutions has grown rapidly. New technologies enable the cost-effective establishment of digital libraries, making research findings accessible to a broad international audience in virtual space. Issues regarding the preservation, maintenance, and professional cataloging of digital collections remain. The opening of digital communication channels also offers new opportunities for networking, collaboration, and creative reuse.

Does this digital cultural heritage now also count as part of our public good, and in an increasingly differentiated and complex world, isn't it best preserved for the long term if it is published under open access? These questions and options will be discussed in the context of the sixth " Digital Library ."

The Digital Library Conference will take place from February 25 to 26, 2016, in Graz. The conference program can be found here .

Programmfabrik will participate in the conference and, as part of the poster session, will dam kuniweb and its capabilities for collaborative collection inventory . The database was created using easydb . The collaborative project is being technically and content-wise coordinated by the GBV's central office (VZG) and the State and University Library (SUB) in Göttingen. We are happy to answer any questions regarding content and technology and look forward to stimulating discussions and inspiring contacts.
