Lecture “Digital Asset, Collection Management and more with fylr

On August 22nd, 2023 at 3:00 p.m., Sebastian Klarmann , COO of Programmfabrik GmbH valuable insights at the IFLA (The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions ) , which took place between August 21st and 28th, 2023 in dam in the use of fylr by university libraries.

The lecture “Digital Asset, Collection Management and more with fylr ” presented concrete examples of how fylr , the successor to easydb 5, helps to create media and metadata repositories without programming knowledge. Case studies on the use of easydb at the universities of Heidelberg, Vienna and Münster received particular attention. These illustrated the diverse possible uses of easydb in the areas of research data and collection management as well as the support of individual data models and a variety of file formats and standards.

    • heiRIS – Heidelberg Research Infrastructure : easydb has been in operation as an object and multimedia database since 2005.
    • University of Vienna : easydb is used in various academic areas, including in the archive of academic graduation ceremonies.
    • University of Münster : Use of easydb in around 30 solutions in the areas of administration and science.

Sebastian Klarmann also showed how easydb , the previous version of fylr , plays a crucial role in the digitization of zoological specimens, historical photographs and other archival materials from the University of Vienna's zoological collection.
