What is Client Based Software?

Client-based software is a program that runs on a local computer and connects to a central server. In general usage we speak of a client-server solution.

What is web-based software?

Web-based software is also a client-server solution. The special thing about web-based software is that no software needs to be installed and run on the clients, the local computers. The user uses the software entirely in a web browser.

The big advantage of web-based software is its platform independence. No matter which operating system and browser the software is accessed in, it works:

• immediately and without installation
• platform independent
• from everywhere
